Brian Kelly’s squad held their eighth spring practice on Saturday morning.
The Tigers are ramping up position battles with newcomers like Harlem Berry and DJ Pickett taking meaningful reps with the first time.
Tigers had an 11 on 11 session where the starters faced off on both sides of the ball. Both sides looked great with the defense working hard with their backs against the redzone.
Kelly likes the growth he has seen from his team and his staff. Specifically his offensive and defensive coordinators.
“Going into year two, is that let’s address some of the areas that we weren’t as good as we needed to be,” Coach Kelly said. “And so that’s been their mindset. And I think they’ve addressed it quite well.”
Great teams are great on all sides of the ball. LSU is working towards that by being technical in practice.
“This focus has been much more about in terms of their overall preparation,” Coach Kelly said. “It’s been trust your teaching so that when it’s time to go you can just let go.”
The Tigers will continue to work their technique until it becomes second nature. It will all be put on display when the Tigers faceoff against Clemson in the season opener in August.
