LSU Baseball defeated Alabama 11-6 on Thursday night. Key players in the win were Ashton Larson and Casan Evans.
Larson came into the game to pinch-hit in the sixth inning and he hit a 3-run home run. Larson has come into the season with a new approach to the game and it is paying off.
“I’ve worked really hard with my mentality over these past couple months and this season to really focus on my breath, you know and to get back to just being as present as possible, as competitive as possible,” Larson said.
Freshman Casan Evans has been looking like one of the best freshman relievers in the country.
Against Alabama, he came in for a pivotal two innings and gave up zero runs. He got a crucial strikeout to end the seventh inning, which led to the Tigers taking the lead in the bottom of the seventh.
“I think that happening had kind of given us more momentum and encouraged us to do better,” Evans said.
Tigers play the second game of a three game series versus Alabama on Friday, April 18 at 6 p.m. CT inside Alex Box Stadium.
