LSU Baseball is two months out from fall ball, after winning their eighth National Title back in June.
Jay Johnson released the 2026 roster, which welcomes 19 returners and 20 new players. Chris Stanfield, Zac Cowan and Tanner Reaves could have gone to the draft, but they decided to stay at LSU.
“All three of them could have signed and decided to do this,” Jay Johnson said.
Johnson talked about how last year’s team and this year’s team have some similarities and differences. In 2025 the players were new to LSU but were veteran players.
“You need what you need to compete.”
Not only did Johnson manage to keep some MLB worthy players, he also will have all of the coaching staff returning.
“Josh Simpson is two for two on the National Championships while being here, so we will try to keep him for a few more.”
Even with fall ball being so far away, Jay Johnson was recruiting in Omaha. He mentioned how glad he was that the Tigers won game one against Arkansas because he got to spend Thursday on the phone recruiting.
Fall practice will begin in October, then the Tigers will have two scrimmages in November. The first scrimmage is November 3rd in Biloxi, and the second is on November 9th.
