LSU Volleyball closed out the Labor Day weekend with a 1-2 record, as they fell to the Baylor Bears. After winning their first Top 20 matchup of the weekend against then No. 17 SMU, the team was fired up heading into the weekend. However after suffering a loss to unranked South Alabama the Tigers seemed to have lost momentum and they continued this losing streak against Baylor to close off the week.
The Tigers biggest challenge tonight was facing the intensity and fight from the bears since the first set. Head Coach Tonya Johnson stated “They put a lot of pressure on us at the serving line, and I thought their attacking was really good today.”
After losing the first set, outside hitter Nia Washington said “Making adjustments sooner and coming out with a fire from the start” is the key moving forward in order for this team to achieve success.
Junior Jurnee Robinson was key as she led the team in attacks and blocks. She shared that her motivation comes from “The NCAA leaving me out of the AVC All American watchlist, so I think that just gives me motivation to work harder.”
The Tigers head to the Lone Star state this week to participate in the Flo Hyman Classic, where they will face off against Houston, San Diego State, and Omaha.
