Guard Jada Richard and Forward Amiya Joyner lead the Lady Tigers to a 89-60 victory in the PMAC against the Florida Gators.
Joyner finished with her second consecutive, and seventh double double of the season also with a total of 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists.
This comes after Coach Mulkey instructed her to “Go get your own rebounds, go get your own missed shots.” in the event her teammates are not providing her with enough touches.
LSU outscored Florida 27-16 in the third quarter, shooting 60% (9-15) from the field, majority thanks to Sophomore Jada Richard. As she led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points, scoring at all levels while putting up 3-of-4 of her shot attempts.
While Richard had 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, on top of sinking six of six free throws while going 6-10 in the field.
Head Coach Kim Mulkey credited the Sophomore and stated “Jada’s IQ with the basketball is something you have to be around her every day to see.”
After leading a team to four Louisiana High School State Championships, Richards basketball IQ as well as her confidence seem to be the key to her growth and success.
Richard, when asked about her emerging confidence claimed “I knew I could get to this stage. It was just a matter of being humble, putting my head down, and going to work.”
Fans can catch Richard, Joyner, and the rest of the Lady Tigers back in action Thursday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 7 p.m. CT.
