LSU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kim Mulkey spoke to the media following the Tigers 92-70 defeat over the Arkansas Razorbacks for the annual Play4Kay game.
This was the sixth straight win for the Tigers and they now stand with a 20-2 overall record and 6-2 in SEC conference play.
Thursday night’s matchup also marked a special night for Mulkey as she reached yet another 20-season as well as her 900th career game against Arkansas.
Mulkey credited the team for their performance but it was far from perfect, as she stated “You’re going to have games where you miss 15 layups like we did in the first half, but I don’t think we started the game as hard as we could play.”
Head Coach Bob Starkey mentioned later last week that the Tigers absolutely cannot underestimate smaller opponents, which seemed to be the case during this matchup.
The Tigers next matchup will be against the both offensive and coaching powerhouse Alabama, who is coming off of a huge win against the No.24 Georgia Bulldogs.
When asked on how the team feels going into next week when they face the Crimson Tide, Mulkey stated “Alabama, heck they may be the best coaching staff in the SEC based on what they produce.”
Kim Mulkey and the Lady Tigers will return to action Sunday, Feb. 1, to face off against the Alabama Crimson Tide at home in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
