The LSU Tigers defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins 116-58 Friday evening, sending them into the second round of the March Madness Tournament on Sunday.
The Tigers haven’t played since their loss to South Carolina on March 7, and they seemed ready to go.
LSU scored 64 points in the first half, while holding Jacksonville to an impressive 36. In the second half, they held the dolphins to an even more impressive 22 points while putting up 55 simultaneously.
However, Jacksonville didn’t go down without a fight. With Senior Guard Priscilla Williams out with an arm injury after an awkward fall, Junior Forward Carmaya Bowman stepped up for her team, scoring 14 points.
Kim Mulkey put a strong emphasis on improving her team’s defense, which they seemed to execute, forcing 28 turnovers, 18 steals and rebounding 45 balls off the glass, which has been their weak spot this season.
Kim Mulkey and her Tigers made history in more ways than one, as they set the record for highest amount of points scored by a LSU team in a post season game with 116, beating their own previous record of 103.
They also tied the NCAA record for most 100 + point games with 15 in total this season.
8 of LSU’s Players walked out of the PMAC tonight with a double-digit game, with Senior Guard Flau’jae Johnson leading the team with 20 points and Mikaylah Williams following close behind with 18.
The Tigers will face tough competition in the PMAC on Sunday against #7 Texas Tech at 2 P.M in the round of 32.
