Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kim Mulkey spoke to the media Friday night after the Tigers’ 116-58 victory against the Jacksonville Dolphins.
LSU had an impressive offensive game with their victory over the Dolphins, they tied the record for most 100+ point games in one season, while also setting the record for most points scored by an LSU team in the postseason.
Kim Mulkey has a lot of confidence in her players, and she knows they are strong offensively. “The offense is not surprising. We’ve seen that all year… We can score the ball.”
However, defense has been a weak spot for the Tigers. Throughout the course of the season, LSU has turned over the ball 490 times and allowed opponents a total of 1033 rebounds.
Kim Mulkey wants to see growth from her team defensively. “We just have to keep committing to things defensively when you play great teams that are as good as you or better than you, and we’ve got to make sure that we show them turnovers. We’ve got to make sure the defensive help is there.”
Sunday will be the Tigers last game at home and it will mark the end of Senior Flau’jae Johnson’s historic career at LSU. Johnson was the first McDonald’s All-American that Kim Mulkey signed at LSU and in 2023, they brought home the program’s first national championship.
Mulkey wants LSU fans to show up for Johnson one more time.
“Flau’jae Johnson deserves to have this place sold out. What she has meant to our community, to women’s basketball, to all sports at LSU.”
The Tigers will face #7 Texas Tech in the PMAC on Sunday at 2 P.M CST.
