LSU Women’s Tennis faced off against Stephen F. Austin Saturday, May 2, to open postseason NCAA Regional play at the LSU Tennis Complex.
The Tigers enter the tournament holding the No. 10 seed according to the most recently completed ITA ranking.
LSU consists of three ranked pairings in doubles, including Erickson and McDonald, Cross and McDonald, and Brace and Cross. The pairing of Erickson and McDonald recently accomplished two ranked victories during this season’s SEC Tournament.
Stephen F. Austin headed into Baton Rouge after recently claiming the Southland Conference title.
As done in the previous season’s tournament as well, LSU has managed to defeat the Lumberjacks 4-0.
LSU claimed the win after dominant singles victories from Kayla Cross and Carolina Kuhl.
The Tigers also managed to sweep both doubles matches with the pairings of Cross and Brace and Macdonald and Erikson.
The winner of each first-round matchup will continue on Sunday, May 3, in Baton Rouge. The winner following the second match will advance to the NCAA Super Regionals.
