Police are saying that the driver that hit Cordes was not impaired.
Louisiana State Police spokesman Senior Trooper Bryan Lee sent a statement to Tiger TV saying, “We are investigating a serious injury crash involving Blake Cordes. He was struck while walking in the roadway on LA 30 Saturday night. The driver that struck Cordes was given a chemical breath test and was not impaired. Impairment is suspected on the part of Cordes.“
A memorial has been made for the victim of the car accident that took place near LSU over the weekend.
Blake Cordes, a Southeastern LA University student, was walking when he was struck by a vehicle on Nicholson Dr. and Ben Hur Road.
Some of the messages written on his memorial are: “Hey buddy I love you so very much and I am so broken right now. I swear I will look out for your brother as if he were my own. Rest easy brother.”
Another message went on to say, “Blake, you were an amazing person and an amazing friend. I will love you forever and never forget about you. I’ll make sure to watch out for Tristian down here. I know God has a special place in heaven for you. I love you so much. Rest easy bro.”
The Cordes family has decided to donate the 19-year-old’s organs after medical experts determined he would not recover from fatal injuries.
