LSU Gymnastics Head Coach Jay Clark spoke to the media on Monday, prior to the meet against Arkansas. The team will travel to Fayetteville to compete on Friday, January 24 at 6:45 pm. Last year, both teams met four times during the regular season, all resulting with wins for the Tigers in a historic year.
Despite the wins, coach Jay Clark understands the Razorbacks will present a challenge.
“We move to Arkansas, and get another road test, which traditionally has been difficult for us.”
Haleigh Bryant has been dealing with an injury since the start of the year. Last week she competed on balance beam, and floor. This week, Clark expects her to be able to do more for the Tigers.
“I assume we aren’t gonna try to progress Haleigh, whether that means fully functional on another event yet or not, but I’m sure we are going to be adding more to her plate.”
Clark’s really excited about the compromise he’s been seeing on his team.
“The entirety of the team seems to have a different level of maturity of what we had in the past. In the moments of making mistakes, it feels like a calmer, quieter, more businesslike confidence, that I’ve seen in quite some time. We’ll see if that last for the entirety of the season, but even the freshman have a calmness about them.”
