The No. 5-ranked LSU Tigers defeated UL-Lafayette 17-4 on Tuesday night. The Tigers put up their second most points of the season.
The bats were hot early as the Tigers scored nine runs in the first inning. Star players from Tuesday night’s game were Cade Arrambide and Jared Jones.
Freshman Catcher Cade Arrambide made the most of the start, going 3-4 from the plate with three RBI’s and a home run. Coach Johnson has been a big reason for Arrambide’s success early on in his career.
“Coach Johnson has been helping me like, stay visually locked in, so when my opportunity does come, I’m able to succeed,” Arrambide said.
Junior Jared Jones hit a grand slam in the first inning and finished the night with five RBI’s and two runs. Tuesday night’s home run puts him seventh all-time in home runs at LSU. Jones feels honored to be among the LSU greats.
“There’s a lot of great players that have put on this uniform,” Jones said. “You know, something I’ve dreamed about since I was in high school and you know it’s something I’ve seen and thought a lot about. It’s awesome to see it come to fruition for me.”
The Tigers will begin their third SEC series against Mississippi State on Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. CT inside Alex Box Stadium.
