In a match that demanded every ounce of grit, LSU Volleyball had to dig deep in order to beat Ole Miss in a five-set showdown.
The Tigers snapped a four-match skid and reignited their SEC momentum with a season-best performance, winning the second, fourth and fifth sets.
“This is the grit and resiliency that we’ve shown at times throughout the year, and I think if we can be consistent with that, I think it allows us to do some really special things,” Head Coach Tonya Johnson said.
Jurnee Robinson and Nia Washington led the charge with 20-kill double-doubles, fueling LSU’s relentless attack and emotional comeback. The Tigers posted a season-high 70 kills and 75 digs, refusing to fold in a rivalry that’s seen seven five-set battles in the last 11 meetings.
“I just think we can’t put ourselves in those positions when we get in a 5-set match and have to go back and execute at the service line,” said Washington. “But overall, I think we really did a good job of battling back and forth.”
The win lifts LSU to 11-12 overall and 4-8 in SEC play, keeping postseason hopes alive and setting the tone for a resilient finish. On Friday, the Tigers head to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
