LSU Men’s Basketball is coming off a dominant 99-73 win over Omaha just last Friday and they look to carry that momentum into the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Florida this coming weekend.
The level of competition for LSU Men’s Basketball will start to get harder from here on out. Head Coach Matt McMahon understands that his team must clean up some things on the defensive end if they want to keep winning games.
“We’ve given up too many offensive rebounds and haven’t forced many turnovers, so that’s created extra possessions for our opponents,” Coach McMahon said.
In the first game of the Emerald Coast Classic, LSU will play Drake University. Drake made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament last year, but they now have a new head coach in Eric Henderson.
Coming from South Dakota State, Henderson brings a strong focus on defensive rebounding.
“They were number one in the country in defensive rebounding last year at South Dakota State, had tremendous success in his six years there,” Coach McMahon said. “Their spacing offensively is really good.”
With Thanksgiving coming up, McMahon and his team will be celebrating with a team dinner on Thanksgiving at their resort in Destin for the Emerald Coast Classic.
“I think the Thanksgiving dinner is something I’m really looking forward to,” Coach McMahon said. “We have not only the players and our coaches, but families that are making the trip.”
LSU Men’s Basketball will tip off against the Drake Bulldogs on Friday, Nov. 28, at 8:30 p.m. inside the Raider Arena in Destin, Florida.
