In their annual Play4Kay game, the No.6 LSU Women’s Basketball defeated the unranked Arkansas Razorbacks.
This marks the sixth consecutive win for the Lady Tigers after a previous victory against the Florida Gators, Monday night in the PMAC.
The win did not come easy as the Tigers began with an unstable lineup, resulting in a full team substitution within the first four minutes of the game.
When asked the reasoning behind the substitutions Coach Mulkey explained she was looking for “Anything, effort, make a layup, have some excitement about you. Let’s Go, and they did.”
The Tigers finished the first quarter with 15 missed layups and allowing the Razorbacks to gain their biggest lead of the game.
LSU made their comeback in the third quarter starting out with a 7-0 run and shooting for 35% FG which is an 11% increase from the previous quarter.
With 21 total turnovers the Tigers seemed to be struggling offensively which is a completely different team than fans saw against the Florida Gators.
Head Coach Kim Mulkey explained the situation as “I just didn’t think we started the game as hard as we can play. And when you play as hard as you can play good things happen,”
The Lady Tigers are looking to continue their win streak as they have only 8 games remaining in the regular season.
Tiger fans can find the team back in action at 11 a.m. CT, Sunday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center as they face off against the No.24 Alabama Crimson Tide for a rivalry matchup.
