Former LSU Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier wins MVP at the 2026 Senior Bowl. Nussmeier led the American team to a 17-9 victory over the National team Saturday afternoon in Mobile, Alabama.
Nussmeier was one of 3 quarterbacks in rotation for the American team with Luke Altmyer from Illinois and Taylen Green from Arkansas.
Throughout the early days of the 2026 Draft, the top 2 quarterbacks, Fernando Mendoza from Indiana and Alabama’s Ty Simpson, were already pretty much set for the 2026 Draft. The Senior Bowl served as a place for remaining quarterbacks looking to gain some last recognition and stats before entering the NFL Draft to fight for the remaining spots…
After a full week of good feedback from practice, Nussmeier was ready to suit up for the final time in purple and gold. Nussmeier was 5-8 in passing yards and threw for 57 yards, one rushing touchdown, and one interception.
He ran for only 3-yards, but this allowed the American team to gain a 14-point lead in the first quarter.
Despite not being known as the most athletic and as a pocket passer, Nussmeier’s performance displayed a skill set that now portrays him as a quarterback who can throw more of a variety.
Heading into the Senior Bowl, Nussmeier sat comfortably in the No. 6 spot, according to ESPN analyst rankings. Following his performance this weekend, Garrett Nussmeier is hoping to have secured a potential third-round draft pick.
