On Saturday morning the LSU Tigers Beach Volleyball Team hosted four other schools to compete on the second and final day of the “Death Volley Invitational”.
#12 ranked LSU went up against Boise State after falling short to two other schools just the day before.
On court one the Tigers had Freshman Ryan Lambert and Graduate Student Zayna Meyer. In the first set LSU had some trouble on the receiving end and lost 20-22.
After quickly turning it around during the second set the Tigers brought it to be a tie game as they scored 21-14. With good communication and dominating hits the Tigers won the third set 15-12.
Over on court three LSU had Redshirt Junior Kate Baker and Redshirt Junior Emily Hellmuth. The Tigers played confidently and won the first set 21-18.
As the Broncos started to try to secure a win to bring the match to a third set they couldn’t outshine the tigers on the prowl. The Juniors defeated their opponents 26-24.
Finally, on court five Sophomore Camryn Chatellier and Graduate Student Aubrey O’Gorman started off playing a difficult game. After some intense back-to- back points the Tigers won the first set 21-19.
When the score was just 7-10 the game had to be called off due to a Tiger medical forfeit.
In the end the Tigers defeated the Broncos 4-1 including the medical forfeit towards the final half of their tournament.
Yesterday, LSU lost 0-5 against the Texas Longhorns and 2-3 against Grand Canyon.
The Tigers will go up against the Arizona State Sun Devils at 4:45 to finish off the Death Volley Tournament.
