LSU football concludes their 2024 season 9-4 after beating Baylor in the Texas Bowl 44-31. Young talent stepping up was the biggest factor in today’s win and tiger fans have every reason to be excited for LSU football in 2025.
The most impressive freshman out of the six that played today was Trey’Dez Green. He scored two touchdowns and helped shut down Baylor’s defense so Nussmeier has time to work his magic. Even Head Coach Brian Kelly believes he has the potential to consistently live up to taylors reputation
“He made you forget Mason Taylor,” Coach Kelly said
As far as his teammates, they were not surprised by his performance. They collectively agreed Green has an unmatched work ethic and will do great things for LSU next season.
We cannot talk about offensive stars without mentioning MVP Garrett Nussmeier. He threw 304 yards and had three of the six touchdowns LSU scored during the bowl game. Nussmeier has arguably had one of the biggest developments throughout the season. He gained more confidence, accuracy and better decision making.
Alongside leaders like Nussmeier is Whit Weeks. During the end of the second quarter Whit experienced an ankle injury. Almost equally as devastating was his brother, West Weeks reaction to seeing Whit hurt. A very upsetting moment was quickly made wholesome when the entire team gathered around him as he was carted away.
“Just to see the team rally around him means a lot to me and shows what kind of leader he is,” West said.
Thankfully for the tigers, Whit should recover smoothly and quickly. Although the team is losing many impactful players like Will Campbell, Emery Jones, Josh Williams, Kyren Lacy and more, LSU football showed their potential to have a strong season next year.
