LSU student government elections are approaching, and it is crucial for students to understand the importance of voting. Campaigns are surfacing on social media, making it essential for students to be informed about the candidates and their platforms.
Student government serves as a voice for students, playing a critical role in shaping the student experience. After a year under the current executive, a new wave of candidates is seeking to bring change to LSU.
The election ticket includes more than 30 staff candidates, making it important for students to understand how they want to be represented.
Presidential candidates are currently using social media to promote their agendas; offering distinct policies, goals, and promises to gain student support.
Current Student Body Vice President Amelia Carman, who won the majority vote last year, emphasized the importance of voting in the upcoming election.
“…In all elections, because we are the ones that are making the change. The students within themselves. So, you want to make sure that someone that you’re voting for will do that,” Carman exclaimed.
Voting will take place March 20 and 21, 2025. A full list of candidates will be posted on the LSU student government website for students to review and plan ahead.
