LSU Softball players Tori Edwards and Tatum Clopton spoke to the media after the Tigers struggled in the opening game of the series against the No.8 Florida Gators.
Edwards expressed how despite the rough outcome from the first game of the series, she believes that there is always an opportunity to look forward to.
“There’s three games for a reason,” Edwards said. “It’s gonna be tough no matter who you play. It’s a really good team on the other side, but we’re a really good team, too. I have no doubt we’re gonna come back.”
Edwards, who would hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, would try and help bring the Tigers back into the game; however, it wasn’t enough firepower in the end as the Gators would continue to dominate the rest of the game with powering performances at bat from top to bottom.
Clopton, who would only end up having two strikeouts in the game, mentioned how in the SEC, every team is already good as it gets, and as the Tigers near the end of their regular season, they must use these losses as motivation moving forward into the postseason.
The SEC is just such a great softball conference,” Clopton said. “Every single game is gonna be tough. Every single game and matchup and series is gonna be a dog fight. I think we’re starting to see that more and more.”
“I think it’s just doing a great job of preparing us for what’s to come postseason. It's just a great opportunity to dig deep and find that rhythm and continue to fight even when things may not be feeling perfect always.”
No. 10 LSU will face No. 8 Florida on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT in Tiger Park.
