For the second time this spring LSU Football hosted an open practice for the media offering a glimpse of what to expect from the Fighting Tigers.
Media personnel and access was limited to only the first 15 minutes of practice where they were able to catch a sneak peak. During this time players were separated into groups based on position where they rotated through a variety of drills looking to polish the fundamentals.
The competitiveness of each position group showcased the fight and hunger new and veteran players have already built up as spring season has just begun.
After the addition of nearly 40 new or transfer players one of the biggest questions fans are wondering is how can a team develop chemistry and build a roster.
A notable observation was transfer Quarterback Sam Leavitt actively on the field and in fact actively doing drills and throwing passes. This participation shows the team is hopeful and actively moving forward with the recovery of Leavitt’s injury
On the defensive side, Linebacker Whit Weeks who is notably out with an injury, was also highly seen on the field still assisting and engaged with his teammates.
As one of the very few veterans for the Tigers, Weeks has stepped into as well as embraced a primary leadership role not just within his position group but the entire team.
With a few weeks left of open spring practices, LSU is looking to master the basics, evaluate depth, and continue to build team chemistry. With the 2026 Spring Game approaching and a vocally active coach on social media, Tiger fans are dying to catch a glimpse of what is to come.
