LSU Softball players spoke to the media before opening weekend. Freshman Jayden Heavener and Sophomore Sierra Daniel spoke about their experiences during training camp and their mindset going into the season.
Heavener is one of LSU Softball’s most talented recruits. Heavener intends to play both sides of the ball this season.
She joins a long line of talented LSU pitchers. Jayden spoke on working with Junior Pitcher Sydney Berzon.
“I love working with Sydney, she’s very sweet, she’s fun to be in the bullpen with, I learn a lot from her,” Heavener said. “We do throw a lot of different pitches but thats really fun to watch and see and grow with her.”
Daniel is one of the many younger athletes on the young softball team. Daniel talked about the new era of LSU Softball that Daniel and her teammates are building.
“I think we’ve talked a lot about our speed and our athleticism that we have, that might be a little different this year,” Daniel said. “Especially on our offensive side it might be a different style of play.”
The Tigers take the field for the first time on February 7 at 4 p.m. against Charlotte inside Tiger Park.
