LSU Softball players speak to the media before they leave for California to participate in the Judi Garman Classic.
Redshirt Senior Danieca Coffey has been hitting the ball very well following her injury last season. She is third in the SEC for batting average, and she has a different mentality this season.
“I know the sport can be taken from me at any given moment, and it used to just be like, kind of like I used to settle,” Coffey said.
“And now it’s like every single at-bat there’s an intention behind every single swing, and there’s not a chance of letting up.” Redshirt Freshman Tori Edwards is excited about the roadtrip, but she knows the team needs to focus on playing their brand of softball.
“I’m just excited,” Edwards said. “But at the end of the day, we’re not focused on whether there’s a number in front of the other team or even in front of our team. We’re just ready to go play some good softball.”
No. 5 LSU Softball opens up the Judi Garman Classic against No. 4 UCLA at 2 p.m. CT inside Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, California.
