After a tough loss against Alabama last week, Interim Head Coach Frank Wilson spoke to the media ahead of Arkansas.
With questions arising about Garrett Nussemeir and if/how he will play on Saturday, Wilson was quick to answer truthfully about anything along the lines of LSU’s quarterback conversation.
“In today’s practice, Garrett was the starter, has been all week. We will continue to monitor his situation and see how he is. If we have to start Michael Van Buren, and it gets down to that, we feel that he is fully capable of doing so. As of today, Garret will be the start going into the game, and we will monitor his progress as we move forward, Wilson explained.
Linebacker Whit Weeks has also been out due to an injury to the ankle. His role in playing has also been questionable in the media since he has not played in the last couple of games.
“Whit Weeks has participated in team events. He participated today as well. He has been on a pitch count. He is probably a game-day decision. We will continue to monitor him throughout the duration of the week. He’s been engaged, he’s been practicing, but it will probably be a game day decision,” Wilson mentioned.
All the adversity that this LSU Football team has faced within the last few weeks has been second to none. Between losing Head Coach Brian Kelly and their Athletic Director Scott Woodward, this team has been faced with an uncertain future.
“What’s important now, focusing on it, giving a clear indication of these are the things we need to do, how do we correct those behaviors in all that we do, and how will that affect us or carry over into Saturday’s game. I think we are living in that moment and our team is preparing in the right way,” Wilson stated.
With different star players suffering recent injuries, it should be interesting to see how everything plays out here in Death Valley this weekend.
Stay tuned and watch the Tigers take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in Tiger Stadium at 11:45 AM this Saturday.
