LSU Men’s Basketball Players Senior Guard Max Mackinnon and 5th-year-senior Forward Marquel Sutton spoke to the media after losing to the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Tigers were amped up heading into Saturday’s matchup after coming off of an 92-87 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks last week.
Max Mackinnon finished the night off strong for LSU as he scored 26 points with two treys and shooting 10-of-10 for free throws to go with his 5 rebounds and 4 assists. This matchup marks the 14th consecutive double figure scoring game for Mackinnon, and he was 1 point shy of his season high.
Marquel Sutton was LSU’s other key double figure scoring, finishing with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and shooting for 5-8 at the free-throw line.
After a fast and energizing start for LSU, the Bulldogs ultimately outscored them 26-6, hitting four 3-pointers to head into the break ahead 42-37.
Sutton commented on the teams short lasting energizing start as he stated, “I feel like we came out with energy, had the hot start, we had a lot of momentum for the first 10 minutes and we just kind of let our guard down and kind of let up the last 30 minutes and the rest of the game, and we can’t do that.”
As they sit with a record of 2-8 in SEC gameplay, it is crucial for LSU to add another win to their belt as only 8 games remain in conference play before the SEC Tournament.
“We can’t separate. We’ve got to stay together as a group, as a team, just like we’ve been doing that all season. When adversity hits you’ve got to stay together, and we’ve got to move on to the next game and put this one behind us.” Spoke Marquel Sutton when asked about how the Tigers plan to move forward.
Tiger Fans are eager to see a more energized and accountable LSU team next week as they host the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Maravich Center at 8 p.m. CT Tuesday evening for another SEC matchup.
